Revealed! This is the Cause of Covid-19 Cases in RI Skyrocketing

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia– Within a week of its implementation, the government from various sectors carried out monitoring and evaluation related to the implementation of the Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM). Especially in terms of the rate of transmission of COVID-19 in the community.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 Vaccination, dr. Siti Nadia Tarmizi, M.Epid said, until July 13, 2021, the cumulative national cases were 2,615,529, and the cumulative death was 68,219. The average increase in cases in the last 7 days is 38,644 per day.

Meanwhile, confirmation of positive cases on July 13 was 47,899, this is in line with the increase in the number of tests and improvements in the recording and reporting system. Namely, the implementation of automatic verification directly from the examining laboratory which eliminates the tiered verification process so that reporting is more transparent and timely.

Despite an increase in cases, the positivity rate tends to be stable. This is also in line with efforts to increase testing where the target to be achieved is 324,387 people being tested per day.

“The increase in cases that are still happening is due to the large number of transmissions occurring in the community,” said dr. Nadia, Wednesday (14/7/2021).

According to him, the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 15 of 2021 concerning the Determination of the Java-Bali Emergency PPKM sets a testing target for each district/city. For positivity rate

“The number of tests carried out continues to grow in all provinces in Java and Bali,” said dr. Nadia.

He added, in the last 10 days, the number of people tested in Java and Bali, both by PCR and antigen, increased by about 2,300 people per day. More than half of this daily increase was reported from East Java (+807 tests per day), and DKI Jakarta (+634 tests per day). However, only DKI Jakarta has reached the target number of daily tests.

With the speed at which testing increases observed in the last 10 days, it would take two weeks for DI Yogyakarta to reach the target, one month for Bali, two months for East Java, and three months or more for the other provinces. The increase in the number of tests still needs to be accelerated.

The average achievement of testing 124 regencies/cities for Emergency PPKM from 3-13 July was 33.61%. Only 11 regencies/cities are above 90%, and 15 regencies/cities are 50-90%, the rest are below 50%,” he said.

“The achievement of close contact tracing / tracing is still far below the target, which is 15 contacts for each confirmed case. So that tracing efforts need to be increased and reported,” said dr. Nadia.
