Warner Brothers has revealed the title of “The Matrix 4” and showed the first trailer of the long-awaited sequel to the CinemaCon exhibition in Las Vegas, the Deadline website reported.
After the first three films “The Matrix”, “The Matrix: Recharge” and “The Matrix: Revolutions” comes the turn of “The Matrix: Resurrections”.
The presentation of the film took place in front of a limited audience at the CinemaCon exhibition. The publication notes that the video is not yet public, but there are already detailed descriptions on the Internet by journalists who managed to see the first footage. Judging by them, the characters of Keanu Reeves (Thomas Anderson / Neo) and Carrie-Ann Moss, who returns in the image of Trinity, do not know and do not remember the events of the previous three films in the series.
In addition to Keanu Reeves and Kerry-Ann Moss, the cast of the fourth film in the Matrix series includes Jada Pinkett Smith, Priyanka Chopra, Neil Patrick Harris, Christina Ritchie, Daniel Bernhard, Lambert Wilson, Jonathan Groff. It is also known that actors Hugo Weaving and Lawrence Fishburne will not return to their familiar roles of Agent Smith and Morpheus.
Lana Washowski is the co-writer, director and producer of the film.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the shooting of “The Matrix 4” was suspended for five months. The film was originally scheduled for release in May this year. The new date on which “The Matrix: Resurrections” will hit theaters and streaming platform HBO Max is December 22, 2021.
