The South Sumatra Health Office then spoke up about the findings of the Corona virus B117 in Palembang. Head of the South Sumatra Health Service Lesti Nuraini said the patient had been exposed since December 2020.

“Indeed, one was found in South Sumatra during a routine inspection of the National Research and Development Agency, taking random samples, it turns out that after being examined there is a new variant of B117, but it does not show any special symptoms,” said Lesti to reporters, Tuesday (9/3/2021).

He said the Health Office had also conducted close contact tracing of the patient. Lesti said that the Corona B117 positive patient was isolated like other Corona patients. This patient, said Lesti, also recovered in January 2021.

“Nothing has been found yet, but we immediately traced the family, the patient was examined and isolated as usual and has recovered, the incident has been since December 2020. Currently the Ministry of Health is conducting further research,” he said.

Lesti explained that the findings were not published because there were no specific symptoms from the patient who was infected with the Corona B117 variant. However, he appealed to the public to continue to adhere to health protocols.

“Yes, there is no need to be shocked. We will conduct more massive outreach because this variant has no specific symptoms. The community must continue to implement health protocols properly, individuals and groups must be obeyed so that the pandemic will end soon together with the vaccine,” he said.
