Anies preferred to fine Habib Rizieq Rp. 50 million for violating the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) rules.
SuaraJakarta.id – Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan revealed the reasons for not dismissing the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday and the wedding held by the frontman of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Habib Rizieq Shihab, Last Saturday (14/11/2002). This was done on purpose.
Anies prefers to fine Habib Rizieq IDR 50 million for violating the large-scale social restrictions (PSBB).
Anies stated that his action did not disperse the crowd and only dropped fine according to the rules. He even claimed that his party had acted quickly on this incident.
“When there is a violation of the health protocol, the violation will be dealt with as soon as possible. In less than 24 hours, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government enforces the rules,” said Anies at the DPRD DKI Jakarta building, Monday (16/11/2020).
Anies then compared his actions to crowds in other areas. According to him, other places often allow and do not impose any sanctions.
“We can see it in various places, there are crowd activities, are they taking action? Jakarta chooses to take action,” he explained.
The penalty for Rizieq was imposed because it refers to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Regulation Number 79 of 2020 concerning the Application of Discipline and Law Enforcement of Health Protocols as Efforts to Prevent and Control Covid-19.
Rizieq is also said to have violated the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Regulation Number 80 of 2020 concerning the Implementation of Large-Scale Social Restrictions during the Transition Period Towards a Healthy, Safe, and Productive Society.
The former Minister of Education and Culture stated that the two regulations had become a reference for his party to act.
“That is the function of the government. The government runs in accordance with the provisions. Where are the provisions regulated? There is a Governor Regulation and that is the reference,” he concluded.
