Paris, Munich or even London: since she was 17 Laetitia Mahicka has traveled the world. At the time, the young Reunionese dream of the United States, but with the economic crisis of 2008, she finally landed in Australia. “So at the time I go there thinking, it will be for a short time. I had a one-year work visa.” Except that Laëtitia will stay there for 9 years. She even obtains Australian citizenship. And it was there that she began her singing career. She integrates a blues group.
From Australia to the United States
Laëtitia will even participate in festivals. And at the same time, she fulfills another dream: that of becoming a model. At the time, Laëtitia had a great career in marketing in the women’s press. But she always had modeling in the back of her head. When she takes the steps to join an agency, her application is immediately accepted. “I started doing castings. And I ended up getting a big advertising campaign in the United States for the airline company United Airlines. I went to the United States in 2017, on vacation. And there I find myself face to face with my advertising campaign on a huge billboard -billboard – at the Los Angeles airport. And there, it really marked me. I said to myself wow! “

At the time, Laëtitia was already 34 years old. But she doesn’t want to have any regrets. “I realized I was already a bit old. So I thought to myself, it’s now or never.” On her return trip Los Angeles – Sydney, she thinks only of that. She then decides to settle in the United States. She finds opportunities. She has played in music videos, especially in those of artists Ne-Yo, Marshmellow or YG. She appears in commercials and has also landed roles in American series.
Reunion in its heart
Laëtitia Mahicka is a great traveler. But she does not forget her native island, Reunion. The last time she was there was during the holiday season. “My mother still lives there, one of my brothers too. I still have my friends from high school (Bellepierre). I would like to go back more often. This is my island, this is where I grew up. C it is important for me to go back. ” And Laëtitia advises all young Reunionese and Ultramarins to live their dreams, “because we only live once“.
