Returns after a ten year hiatus. Kristīne Opolais will perform at the Latvian National Opera

On February 3, 2023, Opolais will give a solo concert accompanied by the LNO orchestra and under the musical direction of conductor Mārtiņš Ozoliņš.

The concert will be a tribute to the memory of Andrejs Žagar.

“It is with great pleasure that I can announce that on February 3rd I will return to the stage of the Latvian National Opera in a special concert.

I look forward to meeting my beloved audience in this special theater where I started my journey as an artist.

I will sing arias of my favorite roles in operas by Francesco Chilea, Giacomo Puccini, Georges Bizet and Antonín Dvořák, both famous and new,” Opolais said.

The artist highlighted the role of former LNO board chairman Žagar in his career, stating that Žagar was his close friend and mentor for many years.

As Treile informed, the internationally sought-after Latvian soprano Opolais has earned a reputation as an excellent singing actress.

The public has the opportunity to regularly attend her performances at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Vienna State Opera, the Berlin State Opera, the Bavarian State Opera, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, at the Zurich Opera House, the Royal Opera House in London and elsewhere.

The artist collaborates with directors such as Daniel Barenboim, Sir Antonio Pappano, Sir Simon Rattle, Sir Mark Elder, Andris Nelsons, Fabio Luizzi and Kirill Petrenko.

His performance has been recorded on CD and DVD, as well as screened live in cinemas around the world as part of the Metropolitan Opera’s “Live in HD” project.

From 2003 to 2007 Opolais was a soloist with the LNO. The artist is a two-time winner of the Latvian Music Grand Prix (2006, 2011).
