JAKARTA – The Regent of West Seram (CFF), Mr. Yasin Payapo, died in his private residence in the region of Galunggung Batumerah Atas, district of Sirimau, town of Ambon, province of Moluccas.
Yasin Payapo died around 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, after returning from a COVID-19 referral hospital.
Reported by Antara, Regent Yasin and one of his children were taken to J. Leimena Hospital for treatment. The hospital belonging to the Ministry of Health has been open since May 2020 as a COVID-19 referral hospital in the province of Moluccas.
However, no definitive information has been obtained that Yasin’s regent and his son were taken to hospital due to exposure to COVID-19.
RSUP director Leimena Celestinus Eigya Munthe confirmed that Regent Yasin and one of her children had been treated at the hospital, but the two subsequently requested to be discharged at 07:00 WIT.

Meanwhile, from the Moluccas Province COVID-19 task force, Adonia Rerung has been unable to ensure the Yasin regent is dying due to exposure to the corona virus.
“The results of the Regent’s PCR test have not yet been released. Always examined temporarily in the laboratory. It cannot therefore be confirmed that he died from exposure to COVID-19 or other diseases, ”Adonia said.
Separately, one of the board members of the DPD Hanura Party of the Maluku province, Edison Sarimanella, confirmed that Regent Yasin died of a stomach acid illness and was taken to the DeImena hospital for treatment.
“The regent was briefly transported to Leimena Hospital, but asked to be repatriated. We are very much missing a quiet figurehead, ”he said.
Yasin Payapo was appointed Regent of Seram Barat on May 22, 2017, paired with Timothy Akerina as Vice-Regent for the first period of 2017-2022.
In addition, Yasin Payapo has also been appointed president of the DPD’s Moluccas de Hanura province for the period 2020-2025.
