A reference in the archives shows that all three new chiefs are former customs officers, with Krastev and Danev being deputy directors during the Oresharski government.

The case of Danev then was curious. He remained in office for only 27 days. He was appointed on January 8, 2014 and removed on February 5. His dismissal was commented on by Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski, saying that “unpleasant information” about Danev had reached him. However, Oresharski diverted the journalists’ questions about this information and advised them to ask Danev’s superiors.
