It takes a particularly long time at the Spielfeld border crossing. We got a taste of what’s to come last weekend. A two-hour wait was standard during rush hour and you should plan for long traffic jams this weekend too. It’s best to travel very early or very late and make sure you take plenty of drinks with you. It’s going to be hot in the next few days.

  • A2, Southern Autobahn – major construction site between Graz-West and Graz-East/ bridge construction work (hard shoulder closed/ speed limit 80)
  • A2, Southern Autobahn/ A9, Pyhrn Autobahn – at the Graz-West junction due to overload
  • A2, Southern Autobahn – Construction site Pinkafeld to Lafnitztal
    • A9, Pyhrn motorway – toll station Gleinalm/ construction site/ narrowed lanes
    • A9, Pyhrn motorway – construction site between Trieben and Treglwang
    • A9, Pyhrnautobahn – Mautstelle Bosruck
    • A9, Pyhrn motorway – Spielfeld border crossing/ construction site
    • S6, Semmering expressway – between Leoben-Ost and Niklasdorf towards Bruck/ construction site

In Graz there will be considerable delays, especially from Friday noon, due to departures to the south.

    Those most affected are:

    • Graz – Triester Straße due to construction site
    • Graz – Carinthian Street
    • Graz – Puntigamer Straße/ Weblinger Gürtel
    • Graz – Liebenau Main Street
    • Graz – Joanneumring/Opern- and Burgring due to construction work
    • Graz – Vienna Street
    • Graz – Plüddemanngasse/ St. Peter Hauptstrasse/ St. Peter Gürtel

police checks can be expected over the summer months.

Croatia holidaymakers must therefore be prepared for long delivery times, especially on weekends during peak travel times.

  • A22 (Italy) Brenner motorway, toll station Sterzing
  • A4 (Italy) Autostrada connection Venice-Trieste
    • A1 (Slovenia) connection Spielfeld-Maribor
    • A2/A4 border crossing Macelj (Slovenia-Croatia), main border crossing for travel to Dalmatia – alternative border crossing Dubrava Krizovljanska
    • Kastel & Plovanija border crossing (Slovenia-Croatia), main border crossings for travel to Istria

    • Avoid weekends: Main travel days are still Friday and Saturday, the return journey is very often made on Sunday. Find an alternative day (Monday to Thursday)
    • Set off at night: Experience shows that there is less going on than during the day
    • Pay attention to exit bans: Before travelling, find out which exits on transit routes are closed (example A10, Tauern motorway in Salzburg)
    • Research construction sites: Most traffic jams are caused by traffic congestion in or in front of construction sites, look for an alternative route
