JAKARTA – Many of us want to get back to regular activities. The moment after Ramadan is a great opportunity to set goals in body transformation with a new or better exercise routine.

However, health problems can arise when we change our routine suddenly. During the fasting month, many reduce the intensity and frequency of their exercise routines or don’t do them at all.

According to a doctor and cardiovascular researcher, Gusti Rizky Teguh Riyanto, MD, Ph.D, exercise routines should be done slowly and gradually.

“For physical activity, our bodies need to go through an adaptation process so as not to be ‘shocked’ by sudden intensive training,” said Rizky, some time ago.

Most of the health problems that arise when starting high intensity exercise occur because we force our body to move without adapting.

Rizky explained, our hearts may not be ready to face an intensive routine. When this happens, a heart attack can occur, along with other health risks such as arrhythmias.

The symptoms you feel are chest pain, tightness, or fainting. In addition, the likelihood of bone, joint, and muscle injury increases, and the body can experience cramps, sprains / sprains, or even fractures.

“The important things that need to be considered are, always make sure the body’s capacity before starting an exercise routine, condition your nutritional intake, make sure your sleep or rest schedule is normal so that you feel refreshed while exercising,” explained Rizky.

“Start with a lower intensity exercise then slowly increase the intensity until you return to the appropriate routine. I recommend starting with light exercise such as a morning walk for 30 minutes,” he concluded.
