The decision of the employees of theater Geert Teis to revive the Ommelebom festival after 30 years has been welcomed with open arms. All available 400 tickets were sold in no time and the enthusiasm was so great that the festival could easily have been expanded with two more events.
The children were able to get acquainted with the theater in a playful way on Saturday afternoon. There really was plenty to do. From disco in the technology room to a chocolate making workshop and from face painting to playing with Lego. And more.
Fox hunt
Furthermore, the boys and girls could participate in a fox hunt with the cooperation of cheerfully dressed members of the theater association UDI. The cheerful meeting ended with a dazzling magic show in the large theater hall.
Forgot key
The Ommelebom festival was opened by mayor Klaas Sloots. He arrived in a beautiful carriage, while atmospheric music was played. There was a moment of panic when it became clear that the mayor had forgotten to bring the key to the door. Fortunately, a balloon artist was present. He made a key on the spot, after which the children could still enter the theater.
Very satisfied and super proud too
“The Ommelebom festival was part of the National Theater Weekend,” says Jasper Stuut of Theater Geert Teis. “We are very satisfied and also very proud. Just look at all those happy faces of those children. That’s what you do it for. Another Ommelebom festival will take place next year, for sure!”
