The health situation continues to deteriorate in the Gard. The covid incidence rate now stands at 722 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the department and hospital tension is increasing. For these reasons, the prefect of Gard has decided to make it compulsory to wear a mask outdoors in town centers of Alès, Bagnols-sur-Cèze, Beaucaire and Nîmes. This measure takes effect from tomorrow, Friday December 31 at 8 a.m. and will be maintained until February 2, 2022 inclusive.

Where exactly will the wearing of a mask be compulsory?

Alès

Within the perimeter delimited by the following routes:
• rue Albert 1er;
• Place des Martyrs de la Resistance;
• Auvergne roundabout.
• boulevard Louis Blanc, including place H. Barbusse;
• extension of the perimeter to avenue Général De Gaulle and
Place Pierre Semard ;
• Rue du Docteur Serre to the corner of rue du 14 Juillet;
• Rue du 14 Juillet;
• Rue Florian, section between rue du 14 Juillet and rue Mandajors;
• Rue Mandajors, section between rue Florian and the Boulevard
Gambetta ;
• Boulevard Gambetta, portion between rue Mandajors and rue

• Place Bertin-Boissin
• rue Garidel-Allègre, from place Bertin-Boissin to
the intersection with the chemin des dames
• the ladies’ path

Nîmes

Within the perimeter delimited by the following routes:

• Boulevard Gambetta
• Boulevard Amiral Courbet

• Boulevard de la Liberation

There are always exceptions to the obligation to wear a mask:
• People under the age of eleven;
• People with disabilities who have a medical certificate justifying this exemption and who implement health measures to prevent the spread of the virus;
• People practicing a physical or sporting activity.
