Wearing a mask is compulsory in La Baule
—
The mask is back in Loire-Atlantique but contrary to the previous prefectural decree, this obligation is no longer generalized in the department.
Last week, the administrative court of Nantes suspended this decree considering that it carried an excessive, disproportionate and inappropriate attack on individual freedom, and did not take into account the different urban, rural or coastal areas of the 207 municipalities of the department.
With the new prefectural decree, wearing a mask becomes compulsory again in public spaces in Loire-Atlantique but in a way adapted to the local context and attendance.
Wearing a mask is therefore compulsory when there is a high concentration of people and physical distancing cannot be respected in the places and activities identified as markets, flea markets, garage sales, unpacking sales; in all gatherings, demonstrations, meetings or activities bringing together ten or more people organized on the public highway, whatever their purpose; in public transport waiting areas, in particular bus and tram stops and their immediate vicinity; around train stations and shopping center entrances, during their opening hours; near schools or universities, when the public enters and leaves; around places of worship, when the public enters and leaves during services and ceremonies; in the queues that form in the public space; in pedestrian areas with high commercial density.
However, this obligation does not apply to beaches or uncrowded natural areas.
This new order is in effect until February 25.
