RETTER Bio-Natur-Resort receives the Austrian eco-label

Pöllauberg (A) The climate-neutral RETTER Bio-Natur-Resort by Ulli and Hermann Retter is a multi-award-winning seminar hotel on the Styrian Pöllauberg and a role model for sustainability and service quality. In the course of the renewed audit for the Austrian Ecolabel and the Green Globes, the Styrian seminar and wellness hotel achieved a great result. The required points for the eco-label of 61 were exceeded by 267% with 263 points.

The long-term commitment to sustainability is also recognized by Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler.

“For successful climate protection we all have to pull together: politics, society and also the economy. I am very pleased that committed tourism companies have been putting the protection of our nature and our climate in the foreground for many years and are successfully implementing the challenging criteria of the Austrian eco-label even in the current difficult situation. Congratulations on this clear sign of sustainable tourism! “

Almost 30 years of organic certification in agriculture and cuisine
The uncompromisingly closed food cycle is consistently implemented in the adjacent Retter BioGut and can be experienced transparently. Here the fruits of the 4ha organic farm are refined into juice, distillates, jams and ice cream, and 100% of the bread and pastries required in the hotel and organic shop are freshly baked every day. There are regular courses and lectures for guests on sustainable living. Out of conviction, only organic animals from a maximum radius of 35 km are processed in the restaurant kitchen with respect. Of course, vegans and vegetarians are also offered a fine selection.

10 e-filling stations and two new e-convertibles for guests
Electric car drivers have 10 free green electricity filling stations and for those who want to become one, two brand-new Fiat 500 E convertibles with a range of 350 km for a trip to regional highlights and producers are available from May 2021.

100 regional employees – including 20 apprentices
make the corporate philosophy visible through their daily actions and convey it to the guests. To make this even more transparent, the Retter Bio-Natur-Resort will publish a sustainability report in 2021, as one of the few hotels in Austria.

Climate-neutral with Climate Partner thanks to resource-saving construction
The hotel building was designed as a low-energy building. The energy demand that arises in spite of this is covered by green electricity and wood chip heating. Climate Partner calculated the greenhouse gas emissions, so-called CO2 equivalents, which are caused by hotel and restaurant operations. Thanks to the good results, it is possible to offset the greenhouse gases generated for environmental projects. Retter is thus one of the few climate-neutral hotels in Austria.

Confident about the future
The survey by the VKI (Association for Consumer Information 2020) showed that intact natural conditions, such as natural landscapes and nature parks, will be the most important characteristic for travelers when choosing a holiday destination in the future.

“Our unique location in the middle of the nature park, the large amount of space and the opportunity to enjoy, meet and relax in the great outdoors make us confident about the future of our company after Corona”, Ulli and Hermann Retter are convinced.

Karl Reiner, who has accompanied the tourist company on Pöllauberg since 2012 as an auditor for the Austrian eco-label and the international Green Globe certificate, is convinced:
“For me, the RETTER Bio-Natur-Resort is absolutely top quality. For me there is practically nothing where the RETTER Bio-Natur-Resort is not exemplary in the area of sustainability. With an outstanding score of 95% in the Green Globe Audit, there is not much room for improvement.
The company of the Retter family shows again that it is undoubtedly a leading company in the field of tourism and sustainability in Austria!
