In the retrial against Manfred Genditzki, who was convicted of murdering an 87-year-old woman, people close to the dead testified. Again and again, witnesses have to correct themselves when the court cites the police interrogations of the time.
Brigitte G., 69, owner of a hairdressing salon in Rottach-Egern, appears as a witness before the 1st Criminal Chamber at the Munich I Regional Court. The pensioner Lieselotte Kortüm was a customer of the women’s and men’s salon G. for almost ten years – until she was found dead in her apartment on October 28, 2008. Manfred Genditzki, 62, was caretaker in the residential complex in Rottach-Egern where the widowed Lieselotte Kortüm lived. He was sentenced to life imprisonment twice for being found guilty of drowning 87-year-old Kortüm in her bathtub. Now he is on trial for the third time because the doubts about his guilt were so strong that the criminal court, chaired by Elisabeth Ehrl, ordered the retrial of the case and his release after more than 13 years in prison. Brigitte G. should help the court to get an idea of the personality of the deceased Lieselotte Kortüm.
