What is the average pension in the 3rd quarter of 2024
So, over the last quarter, pensions in Ukraine on average increased by only 35 hryvnia. Obviously, this happened due to newly allocated pensions. As of October 1, the average pension in the country is about UAH 5,852. Since the beginning of the year, the average pension has increased by more than 8.5% or 466 UAH.
One way or another, a quarter of pensioners still receive a pension of no more than 3,000 UAH. Almost two-thirds or 62% of pensioners receive a pension of up to UAH 5,000, that is, below the average.
We wrote earlier that some pensioners were in November and December they will receive an additional pension payment of up to UAH 3,250.
How many centenarians are pensioners in Ukraine?
The number of pensioners in Ukraine has decreased by almost 174 thousand people since the beginning of the year. On October 1, there were 10 million and 343 thousand pensioners in the country.
At the same time, the Pension Fund reported that more than 108 thousand centenarians live in Ukraine. According to the World Health Organization classification, the elderly are people aged 60 to 75 years. But if a person has reached the age of 90, he is called a centenarian.
The PFU also noted that there are now 1,316 people over 100 years old living in Ukraine. Of these, only 166 are men.
The oldest person in Ukraine, Mrs. Ekaterina, lives in Volyn on October 3 she turned 108 years old.
It is interesting that people who are on their 100th birthday receive additional pension benefits, which I talked about in this video.

What will the index look like in 2025?
Regarding the increase in pensions next year, from March 1 they can increase by about 10-12%. This forecast was made by a senior researcher at the Institute of Demography Lydia Tkachenko. But we remember that this year we also promised 13% before, but it was only 8%.
In addition, Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovich announced a new date for pension reform – July 1, 2025. According to her, when the Verkhovna Rada accepts it, this summer we can count on a second increase over the next year. I do not say when, but if the Verkhovna Rada accepts it.
