Retirement home of horrors, the mayor of Salerno: «A concentration camp»

What emerged from the Carabinieri operation is a horrifying story. I don’t understand how all this is possible. About forty elderly people were hosted in a residential facility in our city. Some of them have suffered mistreatment. It is a structure that operates under a private regime“. With these words, spoken on the sidelines of an initiative a City Palace this morning, the mayor of Salerno, Vincenzo Napoli commented on the operation carried out yesterday by the police which made it possible to discover mistreatment in a facility for the elderly in the city area.

Applause for the police

Despite that – continues the mayor – yesterday morning, once the news was learned, the sector Social Policies of the Municipality of Salerno has taken action to place elderly people who do not have a family network to rely on elsewhere. It was our duty to act even if it was not within our specific competences on this structure which I would define as a concentration camp. My applause goes toCarabinieri which always keeps the attention high on every type of illegality“.
