General (Ret.) Hendropriyono refused to be on any presidential candidate’s team. What is the reason?
Hendro’s name was mentioned as part of the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD team, but Hendro admitted he didn’t know anything. Hendro emphasized that he had never entered the presidential candidate team.
“Maybe I’m no longer worthy because I’m old. At Gama (Ganjar-Mahfud) I already have my son Andika Perkasa who is young and quite tough,” said Hendropriyono to journalists, Thursday (29/11/2023).
“I want to continue to stand in the aspirations of the nationalists who happen to be in the two camps, namely Gama and Pragib (Prabowo-Gibran) who I hope can unite to lead our nation,” said Hendropriyono.
However, both of them will officially compete in the presidential election. Hendropriyono will not campaign for either of them.
“I don’t want to get involved in competition between nationalists. So I continue to try to raise awareness so that in the future we will continue to join in putting the interests of the nation before ourselves,” said Hendropriyono.
“Because they have already gone their own way, I have to stick to the principle of supporting but only in the moral aspect of the 2024 presidential election. I don’t want to physically support one of the competing camps,” he stressed.
