The expression of solidarity and support for the victims of the fire-affected areas of the Municipality of Amari in Rethymno from the devastating fire of August 7th, which left behind more than 11,000 acres of burnt land, continues unabated and in various ways.
According to the Mayor of Amari Mourzano pantsa number of businesses, institutions and associations continue to offer, contributing essentially to the healing of the “wounds”, with him publicly expressing his thanks to those who support this effort in practice.
The Mayor of Amari referred in detail to a series of feed trade businesses, which, as he notes, “They are standing by the livestock world at a critical time for the industry, which is facing huge losses.”
At the same time, many agencies, businesses and associations actively contribute to the support of the affected, either through the provision of items, or through the financial coverage of costs incurred during the fire response, emphasizing Mr. Mourtzanos, “that the list of those who continue to offer help will be expanded in the next period, as new donations are expected.”
The process of distributing the animal feed is ongoing and according to a previous announcement by the Municipality of Amari, it is implemented by a Committee in which the competent Deputy Mayor of Civil Protection, a representative of the livestock association and the president of the affected Municipal Community participate.
As Mr. Mourtzanos points out, this aid is a key factor for the gradual recovery of those affected and is necessary for the survival of livestock farming, one of the main pillars of the local economy in the Municipality of Amari.
The Mayor of Amari emphasizes that: “In these difficult times that the Municipality of Amari is experiencing, the solidarity that is manifested is a beacon of hope for the rehabilitation of those affected and the recovery of our local society.”
