The Fujian Maritime Safety Administration reported on the 9th that the first training session for seafarers from the Taiwan region to apply for renewal of certificates for mainland seafarers was held in Xiamen on July 8, and 18 crew members from the Taiwan region attended the opening ceremony.
According to the relevant laws and regulations of the mainland and the requirements of the supplementary training program issued by the Maritime Safety Administration of the Ministry of Transport, Taiwan compatriots who hold a valid certificate of competency for seafarers in the Taiwan region come to the mainland to complete the corresponding supplementary training and pass the competency examination organized by the local maritime department. Apply for the renewal of the certificate of competency for seafarers in the mainland.
The Xiamen Maritime Safety Administration opened a green channel for the 18 Taiwanese seafarers who participated in the training to efficiently handle information collection and registration and other related work. In the later stage, they will implement guidance and supervision throughout the training process to promote high-quality training. After ten days of training and passing the examination, these Taiwan seafarers can obtain the mainland seafarer certificate of competency issued by the Fujian Maritime Safety Administration, and thus be able to work on mainland and various international ships.
According to Lin Xiangzhong, deputy director of the crew management department of Fujian Maritime Safety Administration, with its unique location advantages and high-quality training resources, Jimei University is currently the only training center in mainland China for Taiwan seafarers to reissue mainland crew certificates. Authorized by Fujian Maritime Safety Administration, since 2013, the Fujian Maritime Safety Administration has successively carried out more than ten sessions of supplementary training during the transitional period of contract performance, knowledge update training for certificates of competency, and supplementary training for certificates of competency for more than 430 Taiwan compatriots to participate in crew training, examination and application in the mainland. The mainland crew certificate provides convenience, smooths the channels for Taiwan seafarers to work in the mainland, and also provides support for Taiwan seafarers to go to the world. (over)
