Completion of works on the railway line linking Grenoble to Gap. It will resume service this weekend, from Sunday 11 December, with five return trips a day. It was threatened with closure due to its dilapidation.
The railway line linking Grenoble to Gap will finally resume service on Sunday 11 December, after 11 months of work. Since 2 January 2022, the line has been completely closed to carry out works, in order to perpetuate this axis, which came close to being definitively closed due to its degradation.
This work was carried out with the aim of avoiding a definitive closure. The project was co-financed by two Regions, three Departments and one Metropolis, for a total amount of 34.7 million euros. It is part of the State-Regions plan contract 2015-2020, extended until 2022. Côte d’Azur.
In the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, 1.7 km of railway line was completely renewed, out of the 20 km of line covering the Hautes-Alpes. Five trenches and rock faces which have been reinforced by the installation of anchored sheet metal fences or protective screens to help secure the sites. And all signaling systems have been modernized to some extent.
In total, in the entire project straddling the two regions of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur, 17 km of track were renewed, mobilizing 120 workers.
