RESULTS Singapore U-23 National Team vs Timnas Laos U-23 from SEA Games 2021 has been known. The Lions (Singapore’s national team nickname) dramatically drew against Laos in the inaugural match.
Competing on Saturday (7/5/2022), Nazri Nasir’s team was 1-2 behind Laos. The Lions themselves looked depressed at the start of the match. In fact, they were two goals down before Glenn (89′) and Nicky Singh (90+5′) equalized to break up Laos’ victory that was in sight.
The course of the match
First round
Appearing wearing a red costume, the Singapore U-23 troops immediately took the initiative to attack. However, several of The Lions’ attacks were able to be broken by the young Lan Xang.
Not wanting to stand still, the young Lan Xang put up a fierce fight. The 9th minute, Laos U-23 counterattacked and opened a golden opportunity through a hard kick by his winger. However, Zaiful was able to brush it off well.
Thanks to his hard work, Laos U-23 was finally able to score a goal through Ekkamai’s hard left foot kick (14′). The Laos mainstay striker kicked the ball right on the line of the penalty box and penetrated Zaiful’s goal.
In response to this goal, Singapore U-23 carried out a massive attack until the 25th minute. However, several attacks by the young Lions could still be thwarted by the Laos U-23 defense line.
In the 45th minute, the young Lions had a golden opportunity. Unfortunately, Shah’s hard kick still hit the crossbar. Luckily the Loas goal was still safe from conceding until the first half was over.
Second round
Appearing wearing a blue costume, young Laos immediately stepped on the gas in the second round. Thanks to his efforts, they managed to double their lead through Chony (50′). He shot the ball hard through his left foot outside the penalty box.
After the second goal of Laos U-23, Zulfahmi and colleagues immediately stepped on the gas trying to minimize the gap. They then had a chance to get a golden opportunity through a free kick in the 54th minute, but Keooudone could still deny it.
Entering the 75th minute, both teams continued to attack each other massively. Both took turns getting a number of opportunities. Until several players between the two teams were replaced, chances after opportunities continued to be created.
However, until the 85th minute, the score had not changed, still 2-0 for the advantage of Laos U-23. Both teams slightly lowered the tempo of the game even though they were still attacking each other.
Towards the end of the second half, Singapore U-23 managed to reduce the gap. Able to shoot the ball into the goal of Laos U-23 through Glenn’s hard kick (89′). He kicked the ball in the penalty area from the ribbon.
The match returned to life, the young Lions continued to pound Laos U-23 to equalize, as well as Laos U-23 relying on counter attacks to increase their advantage. However, Singapore U-23 dramatically managed to equalize through Nicky Singh (90+5′). the score was equally strong 2-2 until the whistle sounded.
