In total, in the province of Malaga there are 52 political parties, coalitions and groups of voters, four less than in the previous elections of 2019. The capital is where the most formations concur (12), followed by the ten in Mijas; nine in Marbella and Vélez-Málaga; eight in Torremolinos, or seven in Rincón de la Victoria, Benalmádena, Ronda and Álora.
In the last local elections in the province, the PP won the number of votes, seized power in the large municipalities of the Costa del Sol (except Benalmádena) and managed to maintain the government of the Provincial Council by agreeing with Cs; but the PSOE obtained more councilors and 37 absolute majorities, especially in small towns.
