SINGAPORE Indonesian National Team against Thailand in the first leg of the final AFF Cup 2020. The match at the National Stadium, Singapore, Wednesday (12/29/2021), night WIB, unfortunately lost 0-4 to Thailand.

The course of the match

First round

Since the match started, Thailand immediately showed its aggressiveness. Indonesia was a little difficult to keep up with the game of the War Elephant Team.

After Thailand’s first attempt was thwarted by Nadeo Argawinata, Chanathip Songkrasin gave his team the lead. He executed Phillip Roller’s pass from the left side of the Indonesian defense to score Thailand’s first goal in the second minute.

Indonesia is also trying to develop its game after being left behind. However, Thailand was able to perform better and several times threatened the Indonesian goal.

Thailand played in a fast tempo game in the first half. This makes it a little difficult for Indonesian players to develop their game and often make their own mistakes.

After appearing depressed, Indonesia is increasingly difficult to focus. The Garuda squad often makes fatal mistakes with inaccurate passing, which benefits Thailand.

In the 41st minute, Indonesia almost scored the equalizer. However, Alfeandra Dewangga, who got a pass from Witan Sulaeman, was unable to take advantage of the opportunity. Until the end of the first half, Indonesia was 0-1 behind from Thailand.

Second round

The second half went like the first 45 minutes with Thailand trying to put pressure on Indonesia. The Garuda squad again had to withstand the onslaught of Thailand before being able to build an attack.

In the 52nd minute, Chanathip again became a scourge for the Indonesian defense. After Indonesia’s attack failed, Thailand made a quick counter-attack which ended with Chanathip’s individual action to break into Indonesia’s goal.

In the 62nd minute, Indonesia almost reduced the score. However, Irfan Jaya’s shot, which received Ricky Kambuaya’s pass, was still thwarted by the Thai goalkeeper, Siwarak Tedsungnoen.

Disaster hit Indonesia again in the 67th minute. Supachok Sarachart added to Thailand’s advantage with a beautiful kick from outside the penalty box. This goal began with a combination of Thai passes which ended with Supachok’s kick.

Indonesia was even more depressed after the third goal because time was running out. Unfortunately, Bordin Phala even added to Indonesia’s suffering with his goal in the 83rd minute. In the end, the Garuda Squad lost 0-4.
