As the anniversary tournament “125 years of Krefelder RFV” with a family afternoon and Jump&Drive as a show number, the association publicly highlighted its sun-drenched summer tournament for show jumpers and dressage riders in the Kühnen riding facility, Hökendyk 1. “We will celebrate our anniversary in the fall again,” says Friedhelm Kühnen from the board of the Krefeld RFV.
Two advanced level dressage tests with one or two stars took center stage. Jochen Bender (ZRFV Wickrath), Rhenish Show Jumping Champion 2013, won the St. Georges dressage test on Serena with 70.568 percentage points and two days later also the Freestyle I with 73.375. While Greta Simon from RV Lenzenhof was still fourth in the qualification with 15-year-old Sir Henry (66.579, behind third-placed Kristina Gassner, RSV Krefeld/Black Barolo 67.982), she managed the horse dance in the freestyle, where artistic design and execution were decisive were, under the sounds of Amy Winehouse, placed second with 71,917. The freestyle was exciting: Greta Simon was the first starter and was only overtaken by the penultimate starter Jochen Bender. “That was a good test for me and Sir Henry two weeks before the Rhenish Championships, when I start there with the young riders,” says 19-year-old Greta Simon, a fourth-semester psychology student at the University of Düsseldorf. Beate Frenzen’s protégé was called up to the Rhenish state pony squad at the age of twelve, to which she has belonged to this day. After the pony period, Greta Simon rode in the junior squad and today in the young rider squad. Her current successful horse, Sir Henry, belongs to her eldest sister Louisa, who was equally successful, but has currently put riding on the back burner because of her medical studies. Greta Simon has championship experience, she took part in the finals of the German Championships with Deine Maid in Aachen (pony) and on Sir Henry (juniors) in Riesenbeck. The winner Filip Schmidt (RFV Hubertus Anrath-Neersen) was the only participant with the full number of points of 77 points in 67.94 seconds in the M** class with Joker and Coraly.
