Yamaha racer Maverick Vinales be the fastest in the first free practice (FP1) MotoGP Portugal at the Algarve Circuit, Friday (16/4).
Vinales recorded the fastest time, 1 minute 42.127 seconds, meanwhile Marc Marquez who returned to the track took third place.
In the early days of FP1 Ducati racer Francesco Bagnaia took the pole position, but a moment later his team-mate Jack Miller overtook him.
However, Bagnaia could return to being the fastest with a record time of 1 minute 50.386 seconds followed by Rins and Miller.
Johann Zarco can get past Bagnaia. But the Italian racer is still quite tough in FP1 MotoGP Portugal by returning to the top position after having a new time, 1 minute 47.951 seconds.
Meanwhile, after 15 minutes, senior racer Valentino Rossi was in ninth position after trailing +4.574 seconds from Bagnaia.
Marc Marquez, who has returned to racing, was ranked sixth with 1.617 seconds behind Bagnaia.
After 15 minutes, Bagnaia, Alex Rins and Zarco filled the top three positions in the FP1 MotoGP Portugal.
Bagnaia improved his record time to 1 minute 46.789 seconds when FP1 had 26 minutes remaining. However, Marquez’s trial wanted to be left behind. The Baby Alien also shot into second place trailing +0.061 behind Bagnaia.
The Doctor, nicknamed Rossi also did the same. The 42-year-old racer meleasted to fifth place with +2.052 seconds.
After 20 minutes of the first free practice for the Portuguese MotoGP, the top three were occupied by Bagnaia, Marquez and Rins.
Defending champion Joan Mir showed his prowess by taking the pole position with a time of 1 minute 46.277 seconds, followed by Bagnaia and Mavercik Vinales in the top three. Marquez dropped to fourth to fourth, while Rossi dropped out of the top 10.
Vinales pushed Mir into pole position with 16 minutes of free practice remaining. Vinales’ time of 1 minute 44.777 seconds, followed by Mir and Pol Espargaro. At the moment, Marquez is in 10th position 2.073 seconds behind Vinales.
Not wanting to be overtaken by his competitors, Vinales improved his record time to 1 minute 44.334 seconds when the Portuguese MotoGP FP1 had 12 minutes remaining.
Vinales is getting stronger in the leading position with the increased time he has recorded. This time, Vinales’ record time is 1 minute 43.739 seconds with 10 minutes remaining for FP1.
The top three positions are followed by Bagnaia and Mir. Meanwhile, Rossi in seventh place trailed +2.492 seconds behind Vinales, while Marquez was knocked out of the top 10.
Marquez had finished second. However, the pace shown by Bagnaia with his new record of 1 minute 42.934 seconds put him in pole position, sending Marquez back to fifth behind Rins, Pol Espargaro and Mir.
Baby Alien was the fastest on the last lap. It’s just that, this position changed because Vinales could record a better time with 1 minute 42.127 seconds. Followed by Rins in second place and Marquez in third.
