Results mozart 100 – Salzburg Ultra Trail 2021 [+ Fotos]

The mozart 100 was held at an unfamiliar time of year this year.

As an exception, the famous Salzburger Ultra Trail was not held until September 2021. The runners are used to the date in June. After the cancellation in 2020, the date for 2021 had to be canceled or postponed at short notice, so that it could still run in September.

Changes this year

On September 4, 2021, the starting signal for the 9th edition of the mozart 100 was given. In the two ultra competitions, the mozart 100 and the mozart Ultra, adjustments were made to the route this year. For example, parts of the route were reversed. The mandatory equipment has also been expanded due to the shorter duration of daylight. The participants also had to adhere to the sometimes questionable 3G measures.

In spite of the adjustments made this year, however, a similarly large field of participants as in the past was to be expected. The supreme discipline was the 108 kilometer long Mozart 100, which led across the Schafberg and the Zwölferhorn, among other places. The 78 kilometer Mozart Ultra and the Mozart Marathon were also very challenging. For beginners there were suitable routes with the Mozart Light (31 km) and the Mozart Half Marathon. In addition, the 9-kilometer Mozart City Trail was also offered in and around Salzburg this year.

At the last edition in 2019 there was the longest distance with the Spaniard Pau Capell (10:54 hours) a well-known winner from the trail running scene. The US runner also gave it to the women Sally Mcrae a winner from a long way off. In 2021, due to travel restrictions, a few top spots for national runners could be expected.

Internationally, however, the top field over the longest distance was again this year. Runners from five different nations were positioned in the top 5 of the mozart 100. The Italian was the fastest Philipp Ausserhofer with a time of 10:28 hours. The New Zealander followed ten minutes later Sam McCutcheon before the Afghan living in Austria Darwishi Hekmatullah.
