Max Verstappen has started the 2021 F1 season in the best possible way. The Red Bull driver clocked the fastest time in the first free practice in Bahrain and was three tenths ahead of Valtteri Bottas and Lando Norris by half a second.
Reigning champion Lewis Hamilton is half a second behind in fifth place, ahead of Charles Leclerc. The two Haas cars of Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin dangled at the back of the field. All times were driven on the soft tire.
