Graz (A) Merkur Versicherung AG is restructuring the company’s board of directors. The company’s chairman of the supervisory board, Alexander Lechner, said: “Ingo Hofmann, previous chairman of the board, will be leaving the company. His contract was terminated. The reason for this is differences of opinion about the management of the company.” Hofmann has been CEO of Merkur Versicherung since 2020.

The company is managed by a proven board of directors
Lechner: “Merkur Versicherung will in future be led by a proven, well-coordinated management team.” The insurance company’s management board will therefore consist of Christian Kladiva (Risk), Markus Spellmeyer (Sales) and Andreas Gaugg (Finance). Under their leadership, Merkur Versicherung will continue its strategy as a regionally rooted company with a supra-regional focus and clearly defined priorities. The past financial year was positive as planned.

Merkur Versicherung AG is the seventh largest insurance provider and the second largest private health insurer in the country. The (deferred) premium volume of Austria’s oldest insurance company was around 764.2 million euros in 2022.
