The Nanterre public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation for death threats against “Forbidden Zone” journalist Ophélie Meunier. She was placed under police protection at the end of January after threats that followed the broadcast on January 23 of an issue of the M6 ​​program devoted to the rise of radical Islam, particularly in Roubaix.

The investigations were entrusted to the Brigade for the repression of delinquency against the person at the end of January, following the complaint filed by Ophélie Meunier.

The report of “Forbidden Zone” on Sunday on a flammable subject in the middle of the presidential campaign had provoked strong reactions on social networks and continuous news channels, even reacting to the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, at the ‘National Assembly. At the same time, Ophélie Meunier and a young man from Roubaix, Amine Elbahi, a witness on the show, received threats, forcing the authorities to place them under the protection of the SDLP.

Amine Elbahi had also filed a complaint after receiving numerous threats on social networks, by SMS or on WhatsApp, as well as voice recordings “ascertained by a bailiff”, according to his lawyer. Amine Elbahi is notably described as “kouffar” (unbeliever in Arabic, editor’s note) and “he is told that he is going to be beheaded”, the lawyer specified.
