Restoring mangroves in the UAE: Lulu, MasterCard and Unilever join forces at COP28

Lulu and Unilever have announced they will partner on a new initiative to reward consumers for their sustainable choices alongside the restoration of mangroves in the UAE. The project supports the tree restoration efforts of the MasterCard Priceless Planet Coalition. Lulu, in collaboration with Unilever, will educate consumers about the important role of mangroves in mitigating climate change.

Ashraf Ali MA, Executive Director of Lulu Group, Khalil Yaseen, Head of Unilever Arabia, and Amna Ajmal, Executive Vice President, Market Development, MasterCard EEMEA, signed the MoU. UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment Maryam bint Saeed Hareb Alheri and Lulu Group Chairman and Managing Director MA at the signing ceremony ahead of the COP28 Global Climate Summit in Dubai. Yusuf Ali is also concerned.

Khalil Yassin, Head of Unilever Arabia, said: “We are delighted to partner with Lulu and Mastercard at COP28 to reward sustainable product choices by restoring mangroves in the UAE.” MA Yousafali said that he was happy to be able to cooperate in such an initiative on the occasion of the Global Climate Summit in Dubai. He added that it will help create a general awareness for our environment and future generations.
