In a session titled The Current Status of Content in the Arab World, Ali Jaber, Dean of the Mohammed Bin Rashid College of Media, reviewed his vision on how to restore Arab youth’s confidence in their media and how to bring Arab dramatic production to the international level.

Jaber said that the challenge is great in upgrading Arab dramatic production to reach the international level, indicating that the Arab drama industry must follow the example of its Turkish counterpart, which markets its works to about 140 countries around the world, and pointed out that Arab dramatic works will be able in the coming years. To break the barrier to global access with the use of artificial intelligence technology and produce high-quality dramatic works at high production costs.

Ali Jaber pointed out that Arab dramatic artistic production is going through a period of transformation that has positive and negative returns, explaining that 5 years ago the Arab world was witnessing the production of between 70 and 80 drama series per year, including works produced during the month of Ramadan, but now it has Production has doubled, reaching between 180 and 190 dramatic works annually, as a result of the introduction of new digital platforms.

Ali Jaber promised that although “this transformation led to a big jump in the number of dramatic artistic works, it led at the same time to many problems related to the type and quality of production, since production companies began to accept any requests to produce drama, and this in turn led to Making concessions to preserve the share of these companies in the “pie” of the Arab art market, and this also led to increased production at the expense of quality.”

He added: Years ago, one episode of any drama series cost between 30 and 45 thousand dollars, but now the cost has jumped tens of times to about 500 thousand dollars per episode, pointing out that this financial abundance had a positive impact because the makers of dramas have become We are able to use this money that is pumped into the arteries of dramatic production to reach higher levels of artistic quality.

Regarding how Arabic content reaches the international level, Ali Jaber said that the Arab world needs more production companies in this field, and the content creator who is looking for internationalization must accompany his Arabic content with an English translation that contributes to reaching various countries around the world.
