It is restless in Paris: Kylian Mbappé is at odds with Paris Saint-Germain. The 24-year-old superstar refuses to renew his contract, after which the club passed him for a training camp in Japan. The French players’ union is now threatening to take a case against PSG.

So a big soap, where a small explanation is not a superfluous luxury. Striker Mbappé, France’s top scorer with 43 goals last season, wants to serve out his commitment in Paris until the summer of 2024. He is not willing to renew the contract.

200 million euros

This puts the Frenchman in a difficult position for his club, because if Mbappé stays this season, he will walk out the door for free next summer. The Frenchman would like to go to Real Madrid, but the Madrilenians cannot now cough up the transfer fee of 200 million euros.

The result: PSG, by passing him, puts pressure on the French attacker to sign. Because in this way Mbappé cannot make playing minutes. The UNFP, the French players’ union, wants to put a stop to that.

‘Al Hilal ready to get Mbappé’

According to foreign media, Al Hilal wants to make an attempt to loosen Mbappé at Paris Saint-Germain. The club from Saudi Arabia wants to tempt the French attacker to leave and is willing to pay 200 million euros. He would be allowed to leave for Real Madrid in 2024 after a year in the Middle East.

There are also rumors of interest from Chelsea. It is unknown whether the club from London can meet all financial requirements.

The union, which does not rule out going to court, accuses PSG of not respecting the commitment with Mbappé. According to the UNFP, the same working conditions apply to football players as to the ordinary French working population.

In addition, the reason that Mbappé “is no longer in the coach’s plans” does not apply to the union. “A misleading argument. It is about the top scorer in the history of the Parisian club and the best player in the world,” said the UNFP.

Paris Saint-Germain has set a deadline for the French goal-getter. His expiring contract must be extended before July 31. So to be continued.
