Restaurant in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania no longer lets children under the age of 12 in

In Dierhagen on the Baltic Sea, a restaurant has now decided to no longer grant access to children under the age of 12. The reason for this measure can be read on a sign at the entrance: noise.

But not only noise is the reason why the owners of the restaurant have decided to take this step. There would also have been other incidents, such as painted walls despite coloring books or children walking barefoot on the tables.

However, the owner, who has four children herself, emphasizes that she has nothing against children and that they are not solely to blame for the measures. In an interview with the Rheinische Post she says:

Parents are more concerned with themselves than with the children.

Is such a ban even legal?

Such a ban is the exception rather than the rule. However, one is free to make such decisions, says the DEHOGA Saxony in an interview with MDR JUMP:

Every entrepreneur and every company has domiciliary rights. If this company says that it does not want to grant access to certain people, then from a legal point of view this cannot be contested.

This is how the network reacts

It does not seem surprising that such a decision is not only met with approval. There is a lot of criticism of the restaurant and its decision on the Internet. But there are also agreeing people who have had similar experiences in the same restaurant and can understand the measure.

As early as 2018, a restaurant in Binz on the island of Rügen made headlines with similar measures. The owners no longer allowed guests under the age of 14 after 5pm.
