Some people were dining in a Chinese restaurant in Dendermonde on Monday evening around 8:30 PM when they became unwell. CO gas appeared to be present in the room. They left the restaurant and called emergency services. They quickly arrived on the scene and searched for the source of the poisonous but invisible and odorless gas. It turned out to be a heater.
On the top floor, emergency services found a man in his bed, who was already unconscious. They managed to revive him and immediately administered oxygen. The victim was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition. The people who came to dine also received the necessary care, but none of them are in serious condition.
