Response to President Jokowi’s Comments and Agus Rahardjo’s Statement – Deputy Captain of the National Team AMIN Sudirman Said

Jakarta

Deputy Captain of the National Team AMIN, Sudirman Said responding to President Jokowi who wondered why former Corruption Eradication Committee Chairman Agus Rahardjo made a statement about the issue of stopping the e-KTP case. According to him, there is public interest in Agus Rahardjo’s statement.

“There is a public interest, this nation must learn that abuse of power is not a correct practice. The public must also learn that leaders who hide bad things will be exposed. It is only a matter of time,” said Sudirman to journalists, in a written statement, Monday (4/ 12/2023).

The chairman of the National Honor Institute believes that what President Jokowi says sometimes has the opposite meaning. Sudirman hopes that future Indonesian leaders, including Anies-Muhaimin, will be wary of abuse of power.

“When Pak Jokowi says something, it could mean the opposite. When (Jokowi) says north it could mean south, to the right it could be left,” said Sudirman.

“As a candidate for national leadership, Anies-Muhaimin as well as other presidential and vice presidential candidates can be wary of everything related to abuse of power. Because when you become a leader, you no longer discuss what is permissible or not permissible, but rather whether it is appropriate or not appropriate,” he said.

Sudirman said the election was the best momentum to improve RI’s leadership. The former Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources considers the election to be an opportunity for correction of the country.

“The benefit of the democratic process is the circulation of leadership. In every season of circulation of leadership through elections, opportunities for correction and improvement are wide open,” he said.

Previously, Jokowi wondered why Agus Rahardjo was making a statement about ‘stopping the e-KTP case’. Jokowi asked what was the need for this to be opened to the public.

“Then why is it being enlivened? What is it being enlivened with? For what purpose?” said Jokowi at the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta.

The journalist then asked whether it was true that there was a meeting between Jokowi and Agus Rahardjo. Jokowi dismissed this.

“I told you to check, I have dozens of meetings a day. I told you to check at the State Secretariat, there are no (meetings). There is no agenda at the State Secretariat. Please just check again,” continued Jokowi.

Jokowi also said that he had told Setya Novanto to follow the existing legal process. Jokowi continued that currently, Setya Novanto has been punished.

“This is the first thing to try to see. Looking at the 2017 news in November, I said that at that time Mr. Novanto, Mr. Setya Novanto followed the existing legal process, it is clear that all of the news is there,” added Jokowi.

Agus Rahardjo’s statement

Agus’ story about the meeting with Jokowi was conveyed in an interview with the Rosi program on Kompas TV as quoted, Friday (1/12). Agus said that at that time Jokowi was summoned alone to the Palace.

“I’ll be honest, when the e-KTP case happened, I was summoned alone, by the President. The President at that time was accompanied by Mr. Pratikno. I was surprised that he usually summoned the five of them, how come he was alone. And he also summoned them not through the press room but through a small mosque like that,” said Agus.

As soon as he entered, Agus said Jokowi was already angry. According to Agus, Jokowi asked the KPK to stop Setya Novanto’s e-KTP case.

“There, as soon as I entered, the president was already angry. Wanted… because just when I entered, he was already shouting ‘Stop’. I was surprised, stop, what was stopped,” said Agus.

“After I sat down, it turned out that I just found out that the person who told me to stop it was Mr. Setnov, Chairman of the DPR at that time, who had an e-KTP case so that it would not continue,” he continued.
