Respond Wisely to NFT Trends

Responding to this, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Dedy Permadi, appealed to residents to be more careful and think long before joining the trend. Do not let this trend actually bring disaster because personal data has been leaked.

“The Ministry of Communication and Information urges the public to be able to respond to trends in NFT transactions more wisely so that the economic potential of using NFT does not cause negative impacts or violate the law,” said Dedy in a press release, Sunday (16/1/2022).

Dedy said, the rapid development of technology must be accompanied by literacy levels at all levels of society. This is useful so that citizens are more proficient in using digital technology productively, not harming it.

On the other hand, his party will monitor the activities of NFT transactions that are running in the country so that they are not used haphazardly.

He will cooperate with the Commodity Futures Trading Supervisory Agency of the Ministry of Trade (CoFTRA) as the authorized institution in the governance of crypto asset trading.

“The Ministry of Communication and Informatics will take firm action by coordinating with CoFTRA, the Police, and other Ministries/Agencies to take legal action for users of the NFT transaction platform who use it to violate the law,” said Dedy.

Furthermore, he also asked the NFT transaction platforms to ensure that their platforms do not facilitate the dissemination of content that violates laws and regulations, either in the form of violations of personal data protection provisions, to violations of intellectual property rights.

This is in accordance with Law no. 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions and their amendments and implementing regulations. The regulation requires all PSEs to ensure that their platform is not used for acts that violate statutory regulations.

“Violations of existing obligations may be subject to administrative sanctions, including termination of platform access for users from Indonesia,” said Dedy.
