Not even from the hubbub of a historic conquest did Mason Mount lose his composure. In one of the interviews he gave after lifting the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League, the youth squad was asked blue if he believed that he could already be considered a world-class player.
At 22 years of age, and understanding that he is just beginning his career in the elite, the English international commented that he still needs to enter that status. He thinks that to make that leap he needs to keep improving and staying consistent for several seasons.
This has just started.
THE SPECIAL MIND OF MASON MOUNT
“World-class player? No, no, not yet. The best of me is yet to come. I’m still young, but I’m still learning and I’m still hungry to keep improving. That’s how I am. Having this (the medal) and winning this trophy has made me hungrier. Now I know what it feels like (to win something important). After the two defeats in the FA Cup finals, I had the feeling of defeat. And you never want to feel it again. Now I have the feeling of winning a bigger trophy and you want to feel it again. I’m very hungry, like I said. And we need to continue like this next season, it cannot be a one-time thing. We have to go for the Premier League, go for another medal for my neck and hopefully continue winning.
