Resistance in Afghanistan: Taliban lose some areas

“The resistance is still alive”, say General Bismillah Mohammadi, who served as defense minister before the Taliban took power in Afghanistan. It is unclear exactly how big the resistance is. Well, there are from the battle zone photo’s and videos of local fighters celebrating and the Afghan flag being raised.

Yet the Taliban have not been completely driven out of the area. On social media, taliban-accounts Report 15 deaths and swear revenge.

It’s all happening in Baghlan Province. It lies between the capital Kabul and the province of Panjshir, the last province not yet in the hands of the Taliban. Panjshir is a relatively small province where few people live. Some Afghan leaders have gathered in Panjshir to oppose the Taliban. Their leader has the US asked for weapons.
