TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Zannuba Ariffah Chafsoh aka Yenny Wahid said that his decision to step down as an Independent Commissioner of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk was not only aimed at helping the company save operational costs. More than that, Yenny said this decision was also a message for external parties.
Sebab, Garuda sekarang masih melakukan renegosiasi biaya pesawat. Misalnya biaya sewa US$ 5 juta, mungkin bisa dikurangi US$ 2 juta.
This message is not only from Yenny’s decision to resign as commissioner on August 13, 2021. However, also from several other commissioners who have left Garuda such as Triawan Munaf, Peter F. Gontha, and Elisa Lumbantoruan.
Finally, only three members of the Garuda Indonesia board of commissioners are left, namely Chairal Tanjung, and two new names are Timur Sukirno, and Abdul Rachman. Yenny believes these three commissioners are very competent and can help Garuda.
Yenny Wahid did not specify how much savings could be made by reducing the number of commissioners. However, he believes this decision is enough to help Garuda’s finances. “It’s definitely okay, if it’s small but done a lot, there must be a lot of accumulation (savings),” he said.
