Kochi > Thrikkakara Nagara Sabha Chairperson Ajitha Thangappan has resigned. The resignation was submitted at noon. Ajitha agreed to resign after the independents submitted a no-confidence motion with the support of the LDF. Four independents who supported the UDF joined the LDF following the uncertainty following the AI-I group fight over the municipal chairperson post. With this, the UDF lost its majority in the council. The independent councilors, who had unconditionally supported the UDF for two-and-a-half years, withdrew their support and gave a no-confidence motion notice on Saturday with the support of the LDF. Another independent, PC Manoop, is already with the LDF. Vice Chairman AA Ibrahimkutty will also resign on the day the no-confidence motion is discussed.
