General director Jeroen Stevens of the Dutch Golf Federation (NGF) is resigning. Reports about the behavior of Stevens and national coach Maarten Lafeber were received this summer via the Center for Safe Sport Netherlands (CVSN).

The investigation into the reports and the behavior of the NGF leaders is still ongoing. It is not known exactly what the complaints about Stevens are. According to the association, these concern communication and policy matters.

‘Enormous passion subsided’

Stevens is not waiting for the results of the investigation. “When a number of reports about me were unexpectedly received via CVSN on August 2, my enormous passion for my work waned,” he said in a statement from the golf federation.

“Fortunately, this is being investigated objectively, but the incident has taken all the pleasure and energy out of my work. That is why I have decided to resign from my position.”

Stevens has worked at the NGF for more than twenty years, first as technical director, later as general manager. Under his leadership, the NGF recently won the Solheim Cup (competition between teams of European and American female golf professionals) for 2026. According to the association, “a nice ending to Stevens’ career at the NGF”.

Stevens’ duties will be temporarily fulfilled by Deputy Danielle Wallet. Stevens will “support the NGF with a good transfer until at least March 1, 2024,” the golf association reports.
