A building on Jalan Rawa Sawah 2, Galur, Johar Baru, Central Jakarta reportedly collapsed this afternoon. The head of the local RW, Syafrudin, suspects that the building collapsed due to the provincial government’s excavation project.
“Incidentally, there is a project (excavation). For the digging of the ditch justification from the provincial government, if that factor (the cause of the excavation) is possible, yes, for sure, it’s just that the construction of this house is already like that,” said Syafrudin at the site, Thursday (28/7/2022). ).
Syafrudin said the excavation project was carried out to widen and repair the waterways there.

“Make a widening to repair the channel to replace a new one,” he said.
Syafrudin said the excavation was built around the collapsed house, because the position of the house was at a crossroads.
“Yes, this is because it is on the hook. Automatically half of the excavation is because this is the border with the foundation. This is a two-and-a-half-story house,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-department officer, Unggul Wibowo, said that his party was still unable to confirm the alleged collapse of the building. It is suspected that the building’s foundation is not strong.
“(The cause is excavation) so I can’t be sure yet,” said Unggul.
“When we evacuated, we attacked, indeed the building is fragile. So you saw everything white earlier, so it was fragile, the top floor was ceramic,” he concluded.
1 Person Killed
A total of 21 firefighters have been deployed at the site for evacuation. One person was reported to have died and 2 people were slightly injured.
“For the time being, there are 3 victims (2 people with minor injuries and 1 death),” wrote the DKI Damkar through its Instagram account, @humasjakfire, Thursday (28/7/2022).
