Residents Start Not To Feel At Home, Break Through The Blockade

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia Malaysia has been in a state of national lockdown since Tuesday (1/6/2021) yesterday to reduce the number of Covid-19 infections. In the strict lockdown, military personnel were deployed and officers began patrolling to ensure that no violations were committed.

However, just entering the second day of the national lockdown, some residents who are not willing to stay at home have begun to show. They began to break through the blockades imposed by the officers.

In the city of Kuala Terengganu, for example, motorcyclists were even reported to have shifted some very heavy concrete separators. Local police noted that there were three large concrete separators that residents moved in the city.

“We believe they moved the concrete out of the Kuala Terengganu district, believed to be using a motorbike because the released concrete could fit a motorbike lane,” said Kuala Terengganu Police Chief Abdul Rahim as quoted by Astro Awani, Wednesday (2/6). /2021).

Meanwhile, Prime Minister (PM) Muhyiddin Yassin has always emphasized that the lockdown imposed by the government can be followed and heeded by citizens so that the Covid-19 infection can be suppressed.

“People need to continue to adhere to the SOP and voluntarily stay at home, to help the government together to overcome the pandemic crisis in this difficult time,” he said.

The national lockdown is in effect until June 14. This is due to the rapidly increasing wave of Covid-19 in the country. Even the infection had recorded more than 9 thousand cases per day

So far, Malaysia has recorded 572,000 cases of Covid-19 in aggregate with 2,796 deaths since the pandemic hit.
