DKI Jakarta Provincial Government together with Polda Metro Jaya will apply fines to vehicles that do not pass emission test. How do residents respond to this policy?
“Actually don’t get a ticket, okay,” said a truck driver named Sobirin (35) when conducting a vehicle emission test on Jalan Asia Afrika, Central Jakarta, Friday (25/8/2023).
Sobirin said the regulation would make it difficult for truck drivers like him. Moreover, according to him, it is the company that knows the eligibility condition of the vehicle.
“Because these are the company’s cars. The driver only knows the position of the car, if it’s a matter of feasibility, who knows the company,” said Sobirin.
Even so, he still appreciated it emission test this time. With this emission test, he hopes to help reduce air pollution in Jakarta.
“It’s good for the streets, so that (air) conditions are stable,” he added.
Irwan (28), a motorbike rider, said a different thing, who took part in the emission test today. He admits that there is no problem if there are sanctions in the form of fines for motorists who do not pass the emissions test.
“No (objection to the fine) anyway,” said Irwan.
He believes the fines on the vehicle did not pass emission test will have a positive impact on reducing air pollution in DKI Jakarta. He also agreed that the dense smoke from vehicles would disturb other road users.
“In order to reduce pollution as well. The fumes that No That’s really good, which is really troubling,” he continued.
Irwan admitted that he was surprised by the vehicle emission tests being carried out today. But afterwards, he admitted that he was calm because his vehicle documents were complete and his motorbike passed the emissions test.
“I was surprised at first because this was someone’s motorbike, not mine. I wanted my own motorbike (which was tested for emissions), so that it would be delicious,” he said.
