Residents of the Metropolitan Area will benefit from lower rates than at present

Starting next year, CTP Iași will expand its services in several communes in the Iași Metropolitan Area. Residents of communes in the vicinity of Iasi will benefit from reduced rates for tickets and season tickets. The communes of Popricani, Aroneanu and Rediu are targeted, where two routes have already been established. The cost for a two-hour trip could be 3.50 lei. Students and pupils will benefit from discounts

Many people from Iași in the Metropolitan Area face excessively high fares for tickets and season tickets for public transport. In the context of the current situation, following a meeting organized by the Board of Directors of the Iasi Metropolitan Transport Association (AMTPI), several communes in Iasi could benefit from the services of the Iasi Public Transport Company (CTP) starting with January 2023.

CTP Iași is expanding its services in several communes in Iași County starting next year

The principal Iași Metropolitan Transport AssociationEduard Boz, claims that the main objective of this project would be access to public transport for all communes in the Metropolitan area of Iași, but at the moment it is too early to discuss such a thing, as there is still work to put into practice .

“Currently, we propose that all communes in Iasi County have public transport, so that passengers pay a one-time ticket valid for two hours. We are still in talks, there is still the issue of additional facilities. There are a number of practices that the public transportation company can address immediately with the buses it has. The infrastructure in the metropolitan area is not yet adequate. We must first see if we can make such a purchase. We hope that in a month, maximum two, we will come up with some transport options that will allow us to support our activity in the metropolitan area from January next year “, he says Eduard Boz.

Two routes will be created that will connect Iasi with the rest of the communes

The mayor of Popricani commune, Ion Tănasă, declared that, from next year, his commune will benefit from public transport services, thus, two routes will be made available to the locals to connect Iași and Popricani.

“Given the dissatisfaction of the citizens of our commune with the way public transport is carried out, accentuated dissatisfaction and the latest significant increases in ticket and season ticket prices, in recent weeks we have had several meetings with decision makers in the field. The Iași Metropolitan Transport Association (AMTPI), of which I am a member of the Board of Directors, has decided to confer the status of local public operator of AMTPI to the Iași Public Transport Company (CTP) starting with 01.01.2023. Following the discussions with the CTP management, we agreed for the Popricani commune two routes to connect the Iași ATU and the Popricani ATU, on the following itineraries:

Route 1: Tg Cucu – Bd CA Rosetti – Cârlig – Vânători – Popricani;

Route 2: Agronomy Roundabout – Ștefan cel Mare Road – Cârlig – Vânători-Popricani ”, states Ion Tănasă, the mayor of Popricani commune.

And for Rediu, it is taken into account that, starting from January 2023, two routes will be introduced, respectively:

Agronomy Roundabout Route – Horlești Complex area (Zahorna intersection) and Păcurari Roundabout Route – Rediu old pond (return via Bradului Street to DJ280E – Rediu gymnasium school – back Păcurari roundabout).

Aroneanu commune is part of the second charging zone

The mayor of Aroneanu commune, Benoni Moruzi, declared that, from next year, the Iași Public Transport Company will operate within the commune. Aroneanu is part of the second tariff area, and this will allow those in the commune to benefit from tickets and subscriptions at a lower price, compared to those now.

The second charging zone provides for the cost of a two-hour ticket of 3.50 lei, valid for any means of transport. A 30-day subscription will be 110 lei. Students will benefit from a 30% discount, paying only 70 lei, and students will travel for free.

“The steps to establish metropolitan transport have paid off. Thus, starting with January 1, 2023, the Iași Public Transport Company will operate within the Aroneanu commune. Aroneanu commune is part of zone 2 as tariffs “, says the mayor of Aroneanu commune, Benoni Moruzi.

The mayor of Popricani, Ion Tănasă, specified that the tickets, once purchased, will be valid for two hours for any means of public transport.

“We have agreed on some principles that will be respected, respectively, the ticketing system (with tickets valid for two hours on all means of transport in the municipality and season tickets), the transport will be done only with high capacity buses, following the other details regarding specifications, frequency, etc. to be approved later, during this year “, says the mayor of Popricani commune.

Some of the communes in the Metropolitan Area already benefit from the services of CTP Iași, but there are great chances that, starting next year, CTP Iași will expand its services in several communes in Iași County.
