The residential care center has 80 retirement home beds and 35 assisted living apartments, and hard work has gone into achieving a high vaccination coverage. “We have a vaccination rate of 90% among our own employees and even 99% among our residents,” Claes continues. “And then it is very bad that the virus still comes in through an external nurse. Some of them really don’t want a vaccine and then you are powerless as management. Actually, the government should oblige people in care to be vaccinated, but apparently that’s difficult,” he concludes.
