Residents of Omurtag Protest Against Chronic Water Shortage and Demand Action

In Omurtag, a partial state of emergency was declared until September 9 due to lack of water. Today, the residents of the city again protested against the lack of water and demanded adequate measures, it was reported BNT.

In some settlements in the municipality, water is supplied once every five days, and in Omurtag itself – only for a few hours every three or four days.

At the beginning of the month, after a meeting with the Minister of Regional Development Andrey Tsekov, a plan was adopted to solve the chronic lack of water that Omurtag has been struggling with for years.

People suspect that the Omurtag Municipality cannot cope with the tasks set by the ministry to solve the water shortage problem. They insist that part of the recommendations be assigned to Targovishte Waterworks. At the moment, however, the company refuses to comment on the subject.
