According to Mayor Gaetano Manfredi, hanging laundry outside in the small streets is characteristic of the city. Therefore, tradition takes precedence over neatness in this matter.

The city council’s plan to ban laundry was met with outrage from residents of Naples.

Other measures are being implemented. For example, there will be a ban on releasing balloons filled with helium and on eating and drinking in monuments. There will also be a ban on knocking carpets from balconies and windows.
