Residents of Japanese island shocked by 30 sea turtles stabbed to death | Abroad

Local fishermen told local media that the sea turtles had become entangled in their fishing nets. Some got the fishermen loose, but others put them out of their misery. The statements of the fishermen are now being further investigated by the police.

The green sea turtles are an endangered species, according to the Japanese government. The animals mainly live around the Okinawa archipelago, of which Kumejima is part.
